Our Top Picks for Remote Interviews

Best Overall

Zoom

Industry standard for a reason. Best reliability, widest adoption, and interviewers already have it installed. The 40-minute free limit is rarely a problem for interviews.

Best Value

Google Meet

Free 60-minute calls, seamless Google Calendar integration, and solid video quality. If your interviewer uses Gmail, this is the path of least resistance.

Most Reliable

Microsoft Teams

Enterprise favorite with the best noise cancellation and longest free duration. If you're interviewing at a large company, they'll likely use Teams anyway.

How We Evaluated

Each platform was tested across 5 real remote interviews conducted between November 2024 and January 2025. We evaluated video/audio quality on standard home WiFi (50 Mbps), tested each feature from the candidate's perspective, and scored reliability based on connection drops and lag. The "Interview Rating" weighs features most relevant to job candidates: ease of joining, professional appearance tools, and recording for self-review. Platforms were evaluated on their free tiers where available, with paid tiers noted for comparison. This table updates monthly as platforms change their offerings.
